Olympian Michelle Plouffe Returns for FIBA 3×3 Event

Three-time Olympian Michelle Plouffe has made a return from retirement to join Canada’s four-player lineup for the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series event in Bangkok, Thailand. Plouffe, aged 33, will reunite with her twin sister Katherine Plouffe, Cassandra Brown, and Paige Crozon for the upcoming competition starting this Saturday.

Canada is currently positioned 10th in the women’s series standings as they approach the culmination of the regular season. The top seven teams, alongside host China, will progress to the women’s series final scheduled in Shanghai on September 5-6. This makes the Bangkok event a crucial opportunity for Canada to accumulate vital qualification points.

Steve Baur, the vice-president and general manager of Canada Basketball’s women’s high performance program, expressed, “As we evaluated our standing in the women’s series and strategized for a push towards Shanghai, bringing Michelle back into the fold made perfect sense. She has maintained a strong connection to the game and our team in her role with our program, leading to discussions over time about the possibility of her returning to play.”

Baur continued, “Bangkok presents a chance for us to enhance our team with an exceptional player during this pivotal phase of the season, while enabling Michelle to reignite her competitive spirit and assess her comfort on the court.”

Michelle Plouffe had retired on July 28, 2025, to transition into her position as Canada Basketball’s 3×3 performance manager. During her career, she guided Canada to multiple FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series titles, secured a silver medal at the 2022 FIBA 3×3 World Cup, and achieved a fourth-place finish at the Paris Olympics.
