M621 Motorway Shut Down: Delays Expected

Drivers are facing delays as a major motorway is shut down in both directions due to a police-led incident. The M621 is currently inaccessible to all traffic as emergency services are on-site between junctions 7 and 5, causing closures in both directions. National Highways is aiding in traffic management for the ongoing incident that was reported to police at 4.19 am.

Additional closures have been implemented around the M621 area near Leeds. Traffic flow is expected to normalize around 9.15 am for eastbound lanes, while westbound commuters might experience delays until around 9.30 am. National Highways has not provided an estimated reopening time due to the ongoing police incident.

Live traffic feeds in the vicinity of the incident have been disabled, with CCTV cameras in the closed areas showing a message stating they are in operational use. Authorities have not disclosed details about the nature of the police incident. The M621 continues to be closed in both directions, affecting all lanes between junction six and junction seven eastbound, and junction six and junction five westbound.

National Highways advises drivers to anticipate delays and plan their journeys accordingly due to the closures. If the closures impact planned routes, drivers are encouraged to allow extra time for their journeys and consider alternative routes or delaying travel plans.
