Sir Chris Hoy has shared an update on his battle with terminal cancer and his wife Sarra’s struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. The 49-year-old British cycling legend received the heartbreaking diagnosis two years ago after doctors discovered a tumor that had spread from his prostate to his bones. In October 2024, Hoy revealed that his cancer had progressed to stage four, making his condition terminal with an estimated two to four years left to live.
During a recent appearance on The Sports Agents podcast, Sir Chris Hoy provided a positive update on his health, mentioning that despite the challenges, he is managing well and learning to appreciate the present moment. Reflecting on his health journey, he emphasized the importance of acceptance and moving forward despite the difficulties.
Regarding his wife’s health, who was diagnosed with MS shortly after his own cancer diagnosis in 2023, Hoy mentioned that she is doing well despite the initial shock of the diagnosis. He praised her resilience and shared that they are finding joy in everyday moments, including decorating their home for Christmas.
Multiple sclerosis, a chronic condition affecting the brain and spinal cord, has no cure but can be managed with treatments to alleviate symptoms like fatigue, vision problems, and mobility issues. Hoy also expressed disappointment at the decision not to recommend routine prostate cancer screening in the UK, highlighting the importance of early detection and raising awareness to save lives.
Sir Chris Hoy remains committed to using his platform to advocate for change, raise awareness, and support research efforts to improve cancer screening and treatment options.
