A shocking video has surfaced depicting a violent attack at Bondi Beach, resulting in the tragic deaths of 15 individuals. The victims, who were attending a Hanukkah event, included a 10-year-old girl, a British rabbi, a retired police officer, and a Holocaust survivor.
Identified by local media, the two assailants were Sajid Akram, aged 50, and his son Naveed, aged 24. While the father succumbed to his injuries at the scene, his son is currently in critical condition at a hospital.
The nearly 11-minute video provides a harrowing account of the incident, with over 100 shots fired within a span of six minutes. Filmed approximately 50 meters away from the bridge where the gunmen were stationed, the footage captures the moment Naveed Akram was gravely wounded, effectively ending the violent episode.
The video commences with Sajid Akram firing a weapon at two individuals attempting to flee. Later, he exits the bridge while his son continues to shoot towards the Hanukkah gathering. Reports suggest that Naveed Akram signaled for people to escape without targeting them directly, indicating a focused attack on the Jewish event.
During an attempt to leave the bridge, Sajid Akram was subdued and disarmed by a courageous bystander, identified as Ahmed al Ahmed. Ahmed managed to wrest the weapon from Sajid Akram and compel him to retreat back to the bridge, where Naveed was still firing shots. Ahmed sustained bullet wounds to his arm and hand and underwent surgery at a local hospital.
As the gunmen faced police fire, Naveed Akram engaged in a firefight before eventually being incapacitated. The chaotic video concludes with bystanders rushing in to assist and law enforcement securing the area.
This tragic incident, considered one of Australia’s deadliest mass shootings, claimed the lives of several individuals, including a Holocaust survivor, a British rabbi, and a young girl. In total, 42 people were hospitalized following the attack, with several individuals in critical condition. Among the injured were two police officers, both listed in critical but stable condition.
