The Canadian women’s basketball team wrapped up the group stage of the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament by defeating Mexico 70-64 in Guadalajara on Thursday night. Yvonne Ejim led Canada with 19 points, while Syla Swords contributed 17 points. Mariana Valenzuela scored 17 points for Mexico.
Canada, now with a 3-0 record, will face New Zealand in the semifinals on Saturday, while the host team will take on Brazil. The tournament final is scheduled for Sunday. The winner of the tournament will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in February 2028.
